Environmental Documents Available for the Article 5 Exchanges Between the Cross Valley Contractors and Other Water Districts for Delivery of CVP Water

The Bureau of Reclamation announces the availability of the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the Article 5 Exchanges to facilitate the initial deliveries of Central Valley Project (CVP) water to eight Cross Valley Contractors. The Cross Valley Contractors' long-term and interim contracts contain the Article 5 provision. The Draft EA examines the environmental resources and conditions within the service areas of potential exchange partners and the impacts, if any, as a result of the Article 5 Exchanges over the next contract year, March 1, 2007 to February 28, 2008. The proposed exchanges would not exceed the Cross Valley Contractors' CVP water supplies of up to 128,300 acre-feet per year of water for agricultural and municipal and industrial purposes.
The Draft EA/FONSI has been prepared in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act and are available for a 30-day public review. The documents are available online at http://www.usbr.gov/mp/nepa; select SCCAO and scroll to Draft EA and FONSI.
It is anticipated the EA and FONSI will be finalized on or about February 15, 2007.
