The Bureau of Reclamation has awarded two contracts totaling more than $1.1 million for armed law enforcement services at Grand Coulee Dam for the next three years. The contracts with the City of Grand Coulee and the Town of Coulee Dam will provide 24-hour-a-day, on-site patrols by certified peace officers from the cities. These officers will work under the direction of and in support of Reclamations security force at the dam.
In addition to the patrols, the contracts provide for the necessary equipment, including vehicles, and training expenses for the cities to provide the personnel needed.
Grand Coulee Dam is located on the Columbia River about 90 miles west of Spokane, Washington. It was completed in 1942 and today serves as a multipurpose facility providing water for irrigation, recreation, fish and wildlife enhancement, hydroelectric power production, and flood control.
