Project ID: 1292

Research Question

The purpose of this proposal is to incorporate data already collected and write the final report of the completed research. Funding for the initial research proposal was reduced during the research period-thus, the need for additional funding to finalize the product.

Need and Benefit

This research proposal has several items of importance when evaluating economic impacts to a region if changes are expected to occur in river operations policy, if assistance in completing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documents is needed, or simply if an understanding of the economic implications of proposed policies is desired.

The overall research can be, and is, segregated by economic disciplines, into phases over time. The economic disciplines include assessments of impacts to irrigated agriculture, the local regional economy, recreational pursuits, and hydropower generation. As the research nears completion, the individual efforts will be coordinated and integrated. This integration effort will provide decisionmakers with a more complete picture of the economic variables of importance.
