Remote site typically collects data each 15 minutes and transmits via GOES satellite
once every 4 hours. Sensors and data logger at remote sites provide data on a variety of
conditions. Sites can collect and transmit on one-minute or random cycles to allow
for special conditions. Reclamation's central downlink facility in Boise, Idaho receives
and processes the data on VMS minicomputers. Some data are collected via line-of-sight radio links,
then relayed to the Boise site. Data are distributed to users via Internet, DECNET, DOINET,
dial-in modem, and web communication links.
