The GOES Satellite System
Satellites orbiting the Earth at an elevation of 25,000 miles relay data
messages from remote collection sites to Reclamation's downlink facility located in Boise, Idaho.
This is the same satellite that provides 'Satellite Weather Images' on the television news.
NASA provides backup data recieve and retransmission services via the DOMSAT satellite system. DOMSAT
messages and atomic clock time synchronization signals are also received at the Boise downlink
facility.
