Hydromet reservoir stations measure conditions such as the elevation of the water surface behind a dam. This allows Reclamation engineers to determine how much water is in a reservoir at any given time. Remote Hydromet stations allow monitoring of water levels at facilities that are unmanned or unreachable during some parts of the year. The station pictured here is at Hyatt Reservoir, Oregon.
