Reclamation is issuing a Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) on the proposed Community Water Company of Green Valley (CWC) water distribution system and recharge facility. The proposed project would allow delivery and use of CWC's Central Arizona Project (CAP) entitlement of 2,858 acre-feet per year for its service area within the upper Santa Cruz basin, located south of Tucson, Ariz. A pipeline would be constructed to convey CAP water to an artificial recharge facility located east of CWC's water service area, where the CAP water would be stored underground.

A revised Environmental Assessment for the project was made available on April 19, 2010, and comments were accepted until May 21. After careful consideration of all public comments received on both the draft EA and revised draft EA, Reclamation has determined that CWC's plans for taking and using its CAP entitlement will not result in significant environmental impacts to the Green Valley/Sahuarita area, Upper Santa Cruz Subbasin of the Tucson Basin Aquifer, or the human environment in the vicinity of the project area. Preparation of an Environmental Impact Statement is not required.

Copies of the FONSI, the final EA, and supporting documents can be obtained by calling the Environmental Resource Management Division at (623) 773-6230, by e-mailing , or by downloading them from the Phoenix Area Office website at
