July 26 Comment Deadline for Goose Bay Marina Modernization
BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bureau of Reclamation is reminding interested parties that the deadline for public comments on the 30 percent feasibility study for the Goose Bay Marina Modernization Plan at Canyon Ferry Reservoir, Mont., is July 26.

Comments will be considered during design development and will assist Reclamation in identifying potential environmental impacts to be considered during the National Environmental Policy Act process.

"Public comments are an effective method for individuals to provide input on the Goose Bay Marina Modernization Plan," said Brent Esplin, Montana Area Manager. "It's important for Reclamation to gather public input so we generate a plan that best serves a broad spectrum of users."

Goose Bay Marina is located on the eastern shore of Canyon Ferry Reservoir, near the midway point, north of Townsend, Mont. The bay is among the largest on the reservoir serving as a marina, and is a deep-water bay.

In Feb. 2013, Reclamation initiated a feasibility design study including basic utility system upgrades, layout of marina facilities, roads, trails, campsites, parking lots, and other site developments.

This study was presented at a series of public meetings held in Bozeman, Townsend and Helena, Mont., in late June. The complete plan is available online, and for more information or to provide comments on the Goose Bay Marina Modernization Plan visit: www.usbr.gov/gp/mtao/canyonferry/goosebay/.
