Horsetooth Campground Public Meeting and Open House
For Release: January 20, 2005
The Bureau of Reclamation is hosting a public meeting and open house on Thursday, January 27 on the proposed construction of a campground north of Horsetooth Reservoir. The meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Ft. Collins Lincoln Center in the Columbine Room.
Larimer County Parks and Open Lands is proposing a new campground near the Satanka Dike boat launch area at Horsetooth Reservoir. The County manages recreation at the reservoir for Reclamation, which owns the reservoir, dams, and surrounding land. Because the proposed campground site is on federal land, compliance under the National Environmental Policy Act is required. Reclamation must review the proposal and inform the public of what, if any, environmental impacts it might cause.
The meeting's purpose is to introduce the NEPA process, explain Reclamation's role in reviewing the campground proposal, and to open the public comment period. Under NEPA the public is encouraged to submit written comments for consideration during the review process. The open house will provide opportunities for the public to receive additional information and to have one-on-one conversations with Reclamation and Larimer County staff members.
The Lincoln Center is located at 417 W. Magnolia Street in Ft. Collins. For more information on the meeting, or to be included in an e-mail notification list for the NEPA process, please contact Kara Lamb with Reclamation at (970) 962-4326, or at firstname.lastname@example.org.
