SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation today announced the selection of Melissa Vignau as regional resources management and planning division manager for the California-Great Basin Region.
In this role, Vignau will oversee the regional activities related to water rights, water-related contracts, land resources, facility inspections, water conservation, WaterSMART, Native American affairs, water transfers, planning, and project and program management services.
“Melissa brings a wealth of experience, institutional knowledge, and vision to the Regional Resources and Planning Division,” said Reclamation Regional Director Karl Stock. “A seasoned professional, Melissa is well suited to successfully guide California-Great Basin’s critical water management in today’s challenging times.”
Vignau has over 20 years of water management experience. Most recently, she served as chief of water resources at the Central California Area Office where she managed water-related actions and supported management of the American River, Stanislaus River, and the Nimbus Fish Hatchery. Prior to this, she served as the superintendent of water operations for Solano Irrigation District, managing water supply, delivery, and hydropower within Solano County.
Beginning her federal career at Lake Berryessa as a park ranger, she also served as the resource division manager for the Central California Area Office, resource manager at Lake Berryessa, and regional outdoor recreation planner.
Vignau holds a Bachelor of Science degree in park administration with an emphasis in natural resource management from California State University, Chico.
