Division of Planning
The Division of Planning is responsible for the preparation of multi-purpose water resource studies and plans for use and conservation of water, land, power, and other associated natural resources. Uses of these resources include recreation, fish and wildlife, urban, industry, agriculture, and the environment.
The Division of Planning investigates and evaluates resources and needs using integrated resources management principles and through a bio-regional or ecosystem approach. The Division conducts strategic planning and development of alternatives and recommendations for resource studies.
The Division of Planning is also responsible for the review, application, development, and maintenance of mathematical computer models used for evaluating surface water supply and reliability, groundwater, sediment transport, water quality, water temperature, and associated fishery impacts. Major activities include the review and use of these models and related computer applications, hydrologic data development, project planning and management related to these models, research coordination, and documentation of study results.
