Title: Grazing Authorization for Retired Lands in Fresno County
Summary: Reclamation proposes to issue a land use authorization that would provide access to and allow grazing of approximately 2,190 acres of land in the Tranquillity Demonstration Project site near the cities of Mendota and Tranquillity in Fresno County, California (see Figure 1 in EA-12-075). The length of land use authorization would be a maximum of 10 years, with storage/grazing periods, locations and stocking rates varying over that time, as described in Section 2.2 of EA- 12-075. In accordance with section 102(2)(c) of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, as amended, the South-Central California Area Office of the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), has determined that allowing managed grazing on 2,190 acres of land in the Tranquillity Demonstration Project site is not a major federal action that will significantly affect the quality of the human environment and an environmental impact statement is not required. This Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) is supported by Reclamation?s Environmental Assessment (EA) Number EA-12-075, Grazing Authorization for Retired Lands in Fresno County, and is hereby incorporated by reference.
