Title: Henry Miller Reclamation District No. 2131 Island Canal System Modernization Project
Summary: Reclamation is providing grant funding to Henry Miller Reclamation District No. 2131 (HMRD) through the WaterSMART Program: Water and Energy Efficiency grant to construct a pump bay control building and retrofit 15 existing manual check structures into four modern automatic flow control structures and 11 long crested weirs. At each flow control structure site an enclosed Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system would be installed for remote monitoring and flow control. In addition to the new structures, the height of 1,100 linear feet, per bank, of the concrete canal liner on Island ?C? Canal would be extended by five inches. The project is located east of the community of Los Banos, within the San Luis Canal Co./Henry Miller Reclamation District No. 2131. The modernization project would allow HMRD to reduce unwanted canal spill, improve water management and service to water users, and reduce dependence on the Delta and groundwater.
