Project Details
Title: Firebaugh Canal Water District 1st Lift Canal Lining Project - Phase II and Check 2 Modernization Project
Summary: Reclamation is providing grant funding to Firebaugh Canal Water District (FCWD) through the Bay-Delta Restoration Program (BDRP): CalFed Water Use Efficiency Grant for the concrete lining of approximately two miles of their 1st Lift Canal to reduce seepage. The lining would begin at Shaw Avenue crossing and continue to the Delta-Mendota Canal. In addition, Reclamation is providing grant funding to FCWD through the BDRP: Agricultural Water Conservation and Efficiency Grant to demolish an antiquated timber weir and construct an automated reinforced concrete check structure integrated into the District?s current SCADA system to improve water management. The Proposed Action is located south of the community of Firebaugh, with the District encompassing approximately 22,000 acres of irrigated cropland in the Westside of the San Joaquin Valley.
