Title: Release of Oakdale I.D. and South San Joaquin I.D. Water from New Melones Reservoir
Summary: Reclamation proposes to release Oakdale Irrigation District and South San Joaquin Irrigation District water rights water from New Melones Reservoir into the Stanislaus River. Up to 80,000 acre-feet would be released in variable flows of up to 3,000 cubic feet per second for 31 consecutive days between April 8, 2013 and May 31, 2013. The proposal, which would allow assessment of impacts on downstream fisheries and other environmental factors, is consistent with the 2009 National Marine Fisheries Service Biological Opinion for the Long-Term Operations of the Central Valley Project and State Water Project. The effects on groundwater levels along the river also would be monitored. The increased flows during April and May down the Stanislaus River would provide improved environmental conditions of the Stanislaus River.
