Renewable Energy Project

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), a water management agency within the Department of Interior (Interior), announces the availability of a Request for Interest (RFI).  Reclamation is seeking interest from any entity or entities interested in developing a renewable energy project(s) in a lease arrangement on existing Reclamation lands in the vicinity of the San Luis Project near Los Banos, California. 

This RFI is not subject to the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR). This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes; it does not constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP) or any promise to issue an RFP. This RFI does not commit Western Area Power Administration (Western), Reclamation, nor California Department of Water Resources (DWR) to contract for any supply or service. Responders are advised that Western, Reclamation, or DWR will not pay any cost incurred in response to this RFI. All costs associated with responding to this RFI will be solely at the interested party’s expense.

Note: Interested parties should review these links related to Safety of Dams activities at the San Luis Facilities.  The SOD Land Map indicates possible borrow areas (blue hatched marks) and haul routes (black dotted lines) that could be active until the 2015 timeframe (final date yet to be determined).  An integrated approach to planning/completing SOD work (surface leveling, etc) which could then provide more favorable renewable energy resource development areas may be possible.

Timing:
To be assured consideration, all SOIs should be submitted in a non-confidential manner and received by Reclamation on or before August 5, 2011.
