I was toward the end of my Associates Degree in Web Graphic Design at DeVry and had been in constant contact with my Career Services Advisor at DeVry who came across the Visual Information Design Assistant position here at the regional office.  I was directed right away to apply at USAJobs.gov, and a few weeks later, I received a call for an interview.  I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Pete Lucero, Karl Kochishan and James Connor, all of whom I have gladly gotten to know well.  I then received my call from HR a few days later and accepted the position.  After the hiring process was completed, I started working the Tuesday, the weekend before Columbus Day in 2011 as a STEP and in May 2012 I was converted to a SCEP.

My experience here has been very positive.  I feel that I work with a great group of people and I’m able to learn a lot from them and enjoy working as a team.  The experience in this position has allowed me to apply the skills I have learned, as well as improve them and develop new skills.

As the Visual Information Design Assistant in the MP Region’s Public Affairs Office, I am able to implement my creativity and create and edit web pages throughout the Region.  I have experienced many other rolls such as photography (video and still images) and setting up sound for different events.  I had the pleasure of meeting many people including our previous Regional Director Don Glaser, current Regional Director David Murillo and the Bureau of Reclamation’s Commissioner, Michael Connor.  I also had the honor of being December 2012’s Regional Office Employee of the Month.

I will be obtaining my BS in Multimedia Design and Development at DeVry University this summer (summer 2013) and plan on furthering my career here at the Bureau of Reclamation and advance within the organization.
