STAFF FROM GRAND COULEE DAM PARTICIPATE IN EARTH DAY EVENTS

Reclamation Guide Cydonie Fukami and Supervisory Reclamation Guide Ivan Snavely recently presented educational activities at two Earth Day Events.

On April 22, Cydonie lead students from four Colville Tribal Reservation schools in an exciting hands-on hydropower and conservation activity at the Colville Confederated Tribes Pow Wow Grounds in Nespelem, Wash.

On April 24, Ivan traveled to the Chief Joseph Dam Fish Hatchery near Bridgeport, Wash., and lead 122 1st - 4th grade students from four schools in the same activity.

"The kids like the activities and always volunteer to participate", said Snavely. The hands-on exhibit reveals forms of power generation from dams, wind, and solar. In addition, conservation of energy is shown as the exhibit demonstrates how devices such as florescent and LED light bulbs can reduce energy consumption.
