This part, together with any necessary regional supplements, will regulate and guide all offices of Reclamation in performing property management functions. The procedures prescribed herein provide for (1) recording all receipts of property and issues of materials and supplies to ensure a record of accountability and responsibility; (2) classifying and identifying all equipment and periodically inventorying items in custody of the office; and (3) storing and protecting property to ensure its proper care and safekeeping pending use or installation on the job for which acquired.
(a) Accountability. The individual Accountable Officer will maintain accounts for property on a property account or record, subject to audit by designated property auditors or reviewers. The Accountable Officer also has responsibility for all property unless that responsibility has been assigned to another individual. [Refer to 114S-60.100(f).]
