| The valley of White Rock Creek at Lovewell dam narrows to less than 3/4 mile in width. River alluvium depth ranges to 68 feet across the valley. The valley fill is composed of four main layers, which are in ascending order: sand and gravel, reworked Carlisle shale, colluvial material from Niobrara formation, and a blanket of loess. The valley fill is impervious as a whole with only the sand and gravel layer capable of being an aquifer. |
