Savage Rapids Dam Fish Passage Improvement Project
Environmental Assessment and FONSI

Overview

The Bureau of Reclamation issued a Draft Environmental Assessment evaluating impacts of the installation of pumping facilities and subsequent removal of Savage Rapids Dam, near Grants Pass, Oregon. The purpose of the action is to improve fish passage while maintaining a water diversion for the Grants Pass Irrigation District.

Although these actions were previously evaluated by Reclamation in a 1995 planning report and final Environmental Impact Statement, the revised preferred alternative is presented in this current EA differs from the original plan.

Few comments were received on the draft EA and the additional information provided only supplemented existing discussion. Therefore, the draft EA was not revised and serves as the final EA.

A copy of the EA and FONSI may be obtained at the Grants Pass Irrigation District office at 200 Fruitdale Drive in Grants Pass, Oregon, or by contacting Mr. Robert Hamilton at (208) 378-5087 or via email at rhamilton@usbr.gov.
