Construction of a Third Hydroelectric Generating Unit - Black Canyon Dam
Reclamation made the first announcement to construct a new third hydroelectric unit at Black Canyon Diversion Dam in a news release issued on July 26, 2010. Prior to the announcement, Reclamation coordinated with the State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO) and the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation (ACHP) to ensure historic integrity of the dam would not be lost with the addition of a new plant.
Efforts were also undertaken to obtain an updated list of potential Endangered Species Act (ESA) listed species within Gem County and the project area.
