Hungry Horse Dam Visitor Center Opens for Summer

The Hungry Horse Field Office announces the opening of the Visitor Center, located on the Hungry Horse Dam’s crest, for the 2002 summer tourist season, according to Facility Manager, Ralph Carter.

The Visitor Center will open on Monday, June 17.

Guided tours of the top of the dam, starting at the Visitor Center, begin June 17. The tours will be available from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. every hour on the hour, seven days a week. Tours will not be given on Holidays; however, the Visitor Center will remain open on these days. The Visitor Center will close on September 3.

Parking is allowed only in designated areas and not on top of the dam roadway.

Admission to the Visitor Center and guided tour program is free.

The Visitor Center is located on the north end of the Hungry Horse Dam on the upper access road adjacent to the Hungry Horse Dam’s crest.

To get to Hungry Horse Dam, take State Highway 2 toward Glacier National Park. Directional signs are located near the Hungry Horse Forest Ranger’s Office.
