Reclamation to Explain Reservoir Operations

The Bureau of Reclamation will hold a public meeting in Pocatello, Idaho, to communicate projected American Falls and Palisades Reservoir operations for the remainder of 2001. The meeting will be held on April 4, at 7:00 p.m. in the Salmon River Room of Idaho State University’s Pond Student Union Building.

Reclamation representatives will describe the below average snow accumulation and explain the low reservoir conditions anticipated late this summer. The public will have an opportunity to learn how the low water levels may affect fish, wildlife and recreation.

The program will include reports on current water supply, efforts presently under way to improve Reclamation’s projection and decision-making capabilities, and the current state of research related to fisheries resources.

Questions will be taken at the close of the meeting which will be held at a facility that is accessible to people with disabilities. Accommodations will be made for those who are hearing impaired and in need of sign language interpretation. For more information about the meeting or disability requirements, contact Laura Bell at (208) 678-0461, extension 28 in the Snake River Area office, Burley, Idaho.

For information regarding water supply forecasts or reservoir operations contact Mark Croghan, (208) 678-0461, extension 25.
