$1.3 Million Contract Awarded for Grand Coulee
The Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $1.3 million construction contract to upgrade and replace elevators in the Left and Right Power Plants at Grand Coulee Dam, located on the Columbia River in north-central Washington.
Armstrong Elevator Company, St. Petersburg, Florida, was awarded the contract on September 17, 2001. Work on the project is expected to begin in early October and end around March 2003.
The upgrade is part of a long range plan to replace all of the elevators that are considered obsolete.
Grand Coulee Dam is approximately 90 miles west of Spokane, Washington, and is a key feature of Reclamation’s Columbia Basin Project providing water for irrigation, hydroelectricity, and recreation.
