Final Arrowrock Report Issued
The Bureau of Reclamation has released a final environmental impact statement for rehabilitation of the outlet works which release water at Arrowrock Dam. The outlet works have deteriorated since their original installation in 1915. Rehabilitation is necessary for the dam to operate without major maintenance.
The final environmental statement calls for removal and replacement of 10 Ensign valves. A Record of Decision is expected next month. Work on the 3-year project would begin this fall.
The draft impact statement was released last fall; as a result of comments received during the review period, the preferred alternative was revised to reduce the likelihood of adverse effects to water quality.
The dam is located on the main stem Boise River about 17 river miles upstream from the city of Boise.
