Boise, population 214,000, has adequate housing for rent or purchase. The area has a quality education system, including a university with 14,000 students. Excellent medical, church, shopping, cultural, and recreational facilities are available. The semi-arid climate has mild winters and warm summers (elevation 2,726 feet).
Nampa, Idaho
The Centennial Civilian Conservation Center (Nampa, Idaho, population 42,500), is located 20 minutes west of Boise, the capital of Idaho. Employees live in Nampa, or in surrounding communities of Caldwell, Boise, Marsing, and Homedale. Nampa is a quickly growing community, with a variety of new businesses and local projects centered on area improvements. There are 2- and 4-year colleges within easy reach. Excellent church, school, medical, shopping, and recreational facilities are available.
Rupert, Idaho
The Minidoka Dam and Powerplant are located approximately 14 miles outside of Rupert, Idaho. Rupert is a city of approximately 6,000 persons with several towns within ten miles. Burley is the largest nearby city with a population of about 9,000. Schools through grade 12 exist in the immediate locality with a junior college located about 45 miles away in Twin Falls. Government housing is not available. Housing to rent or purchase is available in the area. Two hospitals are located in the immediate vicinity with two additional regional medical facilities within a 75 miles. Outdoor recreation includes hunting, fishing, boating, skiing, and golfing.

Grand Coulee, Washington
The Grand Coulee Dam area is comprised of four small communities with a total population of about 4,000, is located in eastern Washington, 85 miles west of Spokane, Washington. Adequate school, churches, health, shopping, and housing is available. The area has hot summers and cold winters with very little precipitation. The adjacent water areas afford excellent opportunities for motor boating, water skiing, sailing, swimming, and fishing. Winter sports include ice fishing, snowmobiling, and skiing. There is also a nine-hole, all grass golf course, open to the public for a nominal fee.
Fort Simcoe, Washington
Fort Simcoe is located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, about 40 miles southwest of Yakima, in central Washington state. The majority of the staff live in Yakima or other surrounding areas. The populations of the Yakima metropolitan area is approximately 100,000. Adequate housing is available for purchase but rentals are scarce. In addition to public and parochial elementary and high schools, there is a 2-year community college and a trade school. Four-year colleges are located 30 miles away in Ellensburg and 15 miles away in Toppenish. Excellent church, shopping, and recreational facilities are available. The climate is generally moderate and semiarid.

The population of Yakima is approximately 100,000. Adequate housing is available for both rental and purchase. In addition to public and parochial elementary and high schools, there is a 2-year community college and a trade school. Excellent church, shopping, and recreational facilities are available. The climate is generally moderate and semiarid, with four definite seasons.
Moses Lake, Washington
The Columbia Basin Civilian Conservation Center is at the Grant County Airport between Moses Lake and Ephrata. Housing is available for rent or purchase in Moses Lake, but is limited in Ephrata. Available facilities include adequate shopping, schools through junior college, and outdoor recreation.
Ephrata, Washington
Ephrata (pop. 6,000) is in the Columbia Basin of central Washington (elevation 1,263 feet). Adequate schools, church, health, shopping, and recreational facilities are available. Housing for purchase or rent is limited. The area enjoys warm summers, comparatively mild winters, and little rainfall.
Port Angeles, Washington
Port Angeles is located on the Olympic Peninsula and has a moderate year-round climate receiving 25 inches of rainfall annually. There are church, medical, shopping, and recreation facilities within the area in addition to excellent schools, including a college. |

La Pine, Oregon
La Pine (estimated population 900; 10,000 in the surrounding area during the summer) is a rural community, elevation of 4,200, located 30 miles south of Bend, Oregon. La Pine has schools K-12, medical offices and facilities, adequate housing, and basic shopping establishments. There is abundant fishing, hiking, and boating at any one of the many nearby Cascade lakes in the summer. In the winter, enjoy cross country and alpine skiing, or snowmobiling through the woods and up the nearby foothills.
