Broad Field Performance Evaluations
Surveying a U-Weir on Bear Creek, OR
Evaluations of structures in the field provide a practical link to guide and validate more detailed investigations in controlled conditions. In the summer of 2005, Reclamation collected data on over 80 structures including:
- Channel Geometry
- Structure Geometry
- Maintenance Issues
- Design and Construction
Data will be assembled to explore patterns. Time and budget are not available for a detailed evaluation on a large number of field sites. A broad survey of restoration structures identifies system parameters and basic structure performance data to assist in drawing general conclusions about the appropriateness and effectiveness of a given restoration sturcture in a specific application.
