Notes: RAWS (and 3 UDFCD) weather stations are indicated by a green + sign with precipitation (inches) on the right (example: ) Precipitation from other (METAR) stations are preceded by a pink square (e.g: ).   METAR gauges tend to underreport amounts from snow (water equivalent).  Improved gauges have been installed at Colo. Springs, Limon, Pueblo and Springfield as of Nov. 2004.

Data are from five WSR-88D (or NEXRAD) radars  providing coverage over Colorado, Southeast Wyoming, Western Kansas and Nebraska.   Precipitation estimates are merged into a nominal 2x2km (quartered HRAP) grid.
