Electric Power and Diagnostics Team

The Electric Power and Diagnostics Team provides technical assistance, diagnostics, laboratory and field testing, and special equipment construction for the electrical features of Reclamation's hydroelectric power facilities. Our expertise includes:
- High-voltage equipment insulation testing and evaluation
- Large motor/generator testing, diagnostics, maintenance planning
- Power and pumping plant control and protective relaying
- Power quality measurement and evaluation
- Power apparatus and staged fault testing
- Commission testing
- Facility grounding systems and personal protective safety grounding
- Electrical/electronic equipment troubleshooting, design and fabrication(solid-state relays, test equipment, instrumentation, etc.)
- Applied research directed to enhance facility operation, reliability, and safety. For example, the tunnel communication study report which was recently completed (Adobe Acrobat Reader is required to read the report).
