- New! Wall Gage Creator is a stand-alone program that makes the wall gage creation module of WinFlume available as a separate program, for use with any hydraulic structure having a rating table or rating equation.
- USBRWeir.xls is an Excel spreadsheet application that can be used to create rating tables and simplified rating equations for common sharp-crested weirs used on irrigation projects. The spreadsheet uses the Kindsvater-Carter equations to calibrate weirs that are both partially and fully contracted.
- WinFlume is a Windows-based program for designing long-throated flume and broad-crested weir flow measurement structures. The software is an upgrade to the DOS-based program known as FLUME 3.0, documented in Clemmens, Bos, and Replogle (1993). The program is documented in a help file and user's manual provided with the software. Several online papers describe the software and discuss related topics.
- WinADV is a Windows-based file-viewing and post-processing utility for the ADV files produced by acoustic doppler velocimeters.
- BFI provides a consistent, objective, automated means of separating base flow. The program accepts input from NWIS-W (Web-format) and WATSTORE data files.
- Coanda-Effect Screens - Software used to model the hydraulic performance of Coanda-effect screens used for debris and fish screening applications. Several online papers describe these screens, the model, and related research.
- Canal Automation Workshops Software - Software used in our Canal Automation Workshops, including the PIDSim program that provides an educational simulation of PID control applied to canal check gates and turnouts.

Calibrating Radial Gates for Flow Measurement
- The Energy Correction for Calibration of Submerged Radial Gates (2003) - Analysis of the energy correction used in the Energy-Momentum method for calibration of submerged radial gates. You may view the paper or 2-page poster in PDF format.
- Refined Energy Correction for Calibration of Submerged Radial Gates (2005) - Development of an improved energy correction adjustment based on reanalysis of the large dataset collected by Buyalski (1983).
- Design Guidance for Coanda-Effect Screens (2003) - Reclamation Research Report R-03-03. This report applies the Coanda computer program (based on the mathematical model described in the 2001 paper) to develop design guidance recommendations for a variety of screen configurations. Case studies of actual screen installations are provided.
- Hydraulic Performance of Coanda-Effect Screens (2001) - This paper presents a complete numerical model for determining the discharge through a Coanda-effect screen structure. For a given inflow rate, the model computes the flow profile along the length of the screen and the total discharge through the screen as a function of the structure dimensions and the screen material properties.
- Uncertainty of Predictions of Embankment Dam Breach Parameters (2004) - This paper provides quantitative estimates of the uncertainty of many breach parameter and peak flow prediction equations and illustrates their use in a case study.
- Report DSO-98-004: Prediction of Embankment Dam Breach Parameters - A Literature Review and Needs Assessment (1998) - This comprehensive report examines empirical procedures and numerical models used to predict embankment dam breach parameters, reviews new technologies relevant to dam breaches, and outlines development needs for an improved numerical model for the simulation of embankment dam breach events. The report presents a database (available online) with information on 108 dam failure case studies.
- Determining Erosion Indices of Cohesive Soils with the Hole Erosion Test and Jet Erosion Test (2008) - This report compares two tests that offer potential for characterizing erodibility of soils encountered in the modeling of breach erosion of embankment dams.
- Erosion Indices of Soils Used in ARS Piping Breach Tests (2008) - This report gives results of hole erosion tests performed by Reclamation on soils used in large-scale piping breach tests conducted at the ARS hydraulics laboratory, Stillwater, Oklahoma. Jet tests results for these soils are also presented and discussed.
- Modeling Headcut Erosion in a Proposed Fuse Plug Auxiliary Spillway Channel at Glendo Dam (2008) - Describes the application of the SITES model developed by USDA to a proposed fuse plug spillway channel excavated through a claystone/siltstone material.
- Stability Analysis of Proposed Unlined Spillway Channel for Upper San Joaquin River Basin RM 274 Embankment Dam Alternative (2008) - Describes the application of the SITES model to a proposed free overflow spillway excavated through a granitic material. Alternative modeling approaches and adjustments are discussed.
- Discussion of "De-spiking Acoustic Doppler Velocimeter Data" (2003) - Discussion of the phase-space thresholding method for filtering spikes from ADV time series.
