Connie DeMoyer (Svoboda). 2009. "Hydraulic Model Study of Arthur R. Bowman Dam Total Dissolved Gas Deflector". Bureau of Reclamation, Report Number HL-2009-01.
Abstract: A 1:24-scale physical hydraulic model of Arthur R. Bowman Dam was studied at the Bureau of Reclamation’s
Hydraulics Laboratory. A wedge-shaped deflector was installed on the face of the spillway as a potential alternative
for reducing total dissolved gas levels downstream of the dam. The location and size of the deflector was varied to
optimize deflector performance. Full removal of the splitter walls in the stilling basin was recommended to produce
the greatest total dissolved gas abatement. Observations during spillway flows were recorded to provide information
regarding how deflector installation may affect dam safety goals.
