Low Ambient Pressure Chamber
The Low Ambient Pressure Chamber (LAPC) with its dedicated 100 hp variable speed pump provides a test section that can operate at an ambient pressure as low as 0.1 atmospheres. This allows the production of real cavitation behavior in reduced-scale models, where velocity and pressure fluctuations are also reduced. The chamber is operated to maintain equal cavitation parameters in the model and prototype.
