| What Is It Good For?

A modified scatter diagram will help pinpoint
which study assumptions are critical indicating a need to verify
these assumptions. Alternatives will address needs only if underlying
assumptions are on target, so examining and documenting your
underlying assumptions is critical.

| How Do I Use It?
|
|
- List assumptions.
- Examine each assumption, asking two questions: Is it
certain? Is it critical?
- Draw a chart with certainty on the (x) axis and critical
on the (y) axis.
- Mark where that assumption is on the chart.
- Analyze critical but uncertain assumptions.
- Document this analysis.
