Senior Advisor - Design, Estimating & Construction Oversight & Dam Safety Officer

Perry J. Hensley is Reclamation's Senior Advisor - Design, Estimating, and Construction Oversight and Dam Safety Officer. In this dual position, Perry manages a program to conduct internal quality assurance reviews of Reclamation's proposed major design and construction projects, serves as Reclamation's Responsible Official for Value Engineering, and advises the Commissioner on the performance of Reclamation's and the other Dam Safety Programs organized within the Department of the Interior.

Perry began his career with Reclamation as a civil engineer in 1978 in Denver, Colo., where he was a design engineer responsible for developing designs and specifications for all aspects of new embankment dam construction and dam safety modifications to existing dams. He became a Principal Designer/Team Leader in the Geotechnical Engineering and Embankment Dams Branch where he led design teams for the construction of major embankment dams and modifications to major embankment dams and related structures.

Perry served as a Geotechnical Engineering Design Manager, Senior Technical Specialist, Group Manager and eventually became the Chief, Geotechnical Services Division of Reclamation's Technical Service Center where he oversaw an organization of 100 engineers, geologists, geophysicists, physical scientists, technicians, and supporting staff who performed engineering and scientific services to support Reclamation's mission.

Perry is a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado and has a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1978 and 1981, respectively.
