Expanded Summer Schedule for Shasta Dam Tours
Summer hours will begin for tours of Shasta Dam starting Saturday, May 30, 2004. The number of free guided tours will increase from four to six a day, with the first tour starting at 9 a.m., and the last one at 3:30 p.m.

Guests should park at the Visitor Center. The tours start at the second elevator tower on the dam. The tour includes an elevator ride down inside the dam, with a short walk to the spillway area, and a view inside the power plant. Guests are reminded that cameras, cell phones, electronic devices, or bags of any kind are not allowed on the tour.

Pedestrian traffic is allowed on the dam from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. People who want to drive vehicles across the dam are still required to obtain an access permit in advance from the Shasta Dam Security Office, or online at: www.usbr.gov/mp.ncao/index.html.
