The Bureau of Reclamation has released for public review and comment the Draft Environmental Statement (EA) for the Cool Cave Quarry Land Lease. The Draft EA addresses impacts for entering into a 10 year lease with Teichert Aggregates, for 16 acres of Federal land adjacent to the Cool Cave Quarry. The document describes the environmental effects of the no action and an action alternative that proposes limestone removal, reclamation, and stabilization of previously mined areas. A public workshop will be held to receive comments on the Draft EA on Monday, March 14, 2005, at the Pilot Hill Grange Hall, 1701 Highway 193, Cool, CA 95664 from 3:30-7pm. Written comments on the Draft EA must be received by closing of business on Tuesday, March 22, 2005. Please mail comments to Ms. Mary Grim, Environmental Specialist, Bureau of Reclamation, Central California Area Office, 7794 Folsom Dam Road, Folsom, CA 95630-1799.
