For Release: July 16, 2013

The Bureau of Reclamation will close the parking lot and boat ramp at Newton Reservoir beginning July 29 through November 20, 2013 to complete resurfacing and reconstruction work necessary to ensure safety of boaters and anglers who access the reservoir.

The boat-trailer parking and turn-around area will be hard-surface paved to prevent further erosion of the unpaved surface that has resulted from the high volume of vehicle usage. The existing concrete boat ramp which has safety deficiencies will be completely reconstructed to provide improved long-term safe reservoir access. The work to be done will be accomplished through grant funding provided by Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.

Although the closure will create a temporary inconvenience, the enhancements will ultimately improve Newton Reservoir as a sport fishery and high-quality recreational experience to visitors.
