Reclamation Releases Final Environmental Documents for Central Valley Project Water Transfer

FRESNO, Calif. – The Bureau of Reclamation has released final environmental documents for approval of annual transfers of up to 20,500 acre-feet of Central Valley Project water from the Central California Irrigation District to the San Luis, Panoche, Del Puerto and Westlands Water Districts and up to 5,000 acre-feet of CVP water from the Firebaugh Canal Water District to the San Luis Water District or Westlands Water District.

The proposed transfers would allow water districts and landowners flexibility to manage limited water supplies from July through December and April 2013 through December 2013.

Reclamation released the draft Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact, for public review and comments between June 27 and July 10. Comments are addressed in the Final EA and FONSI.
