BILLINGS, Mont. -- The Bureau of Reclamation will be conducting investigations at Fresno Dam the week of August 6, 2012. The investigations, which are part of the agency's periodic facility condition evaluations, involve excavating shallow test pits near the base of the downstream face of the dam. No change in reservoir operations is anticipated as a result of the project.

Fresno Dam is located on the Milk River about 14 miles west of Havre, Mont. Construction of the dam, which is operated and maintained by Reclamation, was completed in 1939.

Questions concerning the test pit investigations should be directed to Ms. Paula Holwegner of Reclamation’s Montana Area Office at (406) 247-7300.
