One of three stainless steel membranes has been installed as part of the repair of Upper Stillwater Dam. The membranes, along with interior grouting and drain installation, are designed to minimize and control seepage through the dam due to cracking which occurred shortly after the dam was completed in 1987. Grouting at the bottom of the membrane as well as an asphalt seal around the sides and top of the membrane will take place over the next week. Drilling for installation of the second membrane, as well as, re-drilling of foundation drains is also underway.

Work is expected to be finished by June 2005 although the weather during the winter months will affect the speed with which work is completed. The contractor working with Reclamation to perform the work is ASI-RCC of Buena Vista, Colorado.

Upper Stillwater Dam is a roller-compacted concrete-gravity dam. It has a hydraulic height of 182 feet and holds back a reservoir of 32,496 acre-feet of water. It is located in Duchesne County near Mountain Home, Utah.
