Guests should park at the Shasta Dam Visitor Center. The tours start at the second elevator tower on the dam, and include an elevator ride down inside the dam with a short walk to the spillway area, and a view inside the power plant. Tours take approximately 1 hour.
Visitors are reminded that bags, electronic devices including cameras or cell phones, or any weapons, including small pocket knifes, are not allowed on the tour.
The Visitor Center is open 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Free historical movies are available in the auditorium, along with displays and exhibits explaining the construction story of the second largest dam in the country.
