The Hoover Dam visitor center and parking garage will remain open and offer public tours on Monday, January 1, and on Tuesday, January 2. However, administrative offices at Hoover Dam will be closed on January 1, a national holiday, and on January 2, a national day of mourning for Gerald R. Ford, the 38th President of the United States.

The visitor center opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 6:00 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time). Tours of the dam's powerplant begin about 9:20 a.m. and run approximately every 15 minutes thereafter until 5:15 p.m. The parking garage opens at 8:00 a.m., and closes at 5:00 p.m.

Hoover Dam is closed to visitation only two days of the year - Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Traffic

Highway 93 across Hoover Dam will be open to traffic throughout the New Year's Day holiday weekend. But motorists should expect slower-than-normal traffic and should have flexible schedules to allow for the extra time necessary to cross the dam.

Since the Christmas holiday weekend, Hoover Dam Police have reported traffic delays lasting from one to two hours. Longer delays in both directions across the dam are anticipated before and after the New Year holiday.
