Hensley will provide independent oversight of Design, Estimating, and Construction Projects, and Reclamation's Dam Safety Program
Perry J. Hensley was named today as Reclamation's Senior Advisor - Design, Estimating, and Construction Oversight and Dam Safety Officer by Reclamation Commissioner Robert Johnson.

In this position, Hensley will provide oversight of design, estimating and construction activities as they are being formulated and prepared to ensure that executive-level management decisions and products are sound at the project and corporate levels. He also will serve as the principle advisor on the implementation of the Federal Guidelines for Dam Safety and serve as Reclamation's Dam Safety Officer where he will provide broad program guidance, conduct reviews and perform quality assurance of Reclamation's Dam Safety Program.

Hensley began his career with Reclamation as a civil engineer in 1978, where he was a design engineer responsible for developing designs and specifications for all aspects of new and existing embankment dam construction and dam safety modifications. In 1988, he became a Principal Designer/Team Leader in the Geotechnical Engineering Group. Subsequently, Hensley became Group Manager and for nearly a decade contributed to the development of Reclamation's Dam Safety Program as a member of its Dam Safety Advisory Board.

Recently, Hensley served as the Chief, Geotechnical Services Division of Reclamation's Technical Service Center where he oversaw an organization of 100 engineers, geologists, geophysicists, physical scientists, technicians, and supporting staff who performed engineering and scientific services to support Reclamation's mission.

Hensley is a Professional Engineer in the State of Colorado and has a Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degree from the University of Utah in 1978 and 1981, respectively. This position will report to the Director, Technical Resources and will be located in Denver, Colo.
