After she joins the Lake Berryessa office on October 15, 2006, Ms. Rogers will help implement the recently completed Visitor Services Plan, a long-term recreation plan for the lake. Her expertise in operations makes her an excellent selection for Park Manager. In her current position as the Chief of Administration at Haleakala National Park on the island of Maui, she has been involved in a Commercial and Visitor Use Plan that identifies necessary and appropriate commercial services and determines the best way to manage those services. She is also involved in community outreach with native Hawaiians and Pacific Islanders, and she has instructed thousands of students in the Congressional budget process.
Ms. Rogers has worked at some of the most spectacular and diverse parks in the Nation including Yosemite, Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Haleakala National Parks; the Grand Canyon; and Lake Roosevelt (Coulee Dam). She studied Environmental Science at the College of the Desert in Palm Springs and Palomar College in San Diego County.
"I'm very excited to be working with Lake Berryessa's partners and talented staff," said Ms. Rogers. "Lake Berryessa is an incredible resource!" She and her husband, Bobby, are looking forward to being back in California, where they have three grown children and two grandchildren. She is replacing the outgoing Park Manager, Mr. Pedro "Pete" Lucero, who has accepted a promotion to the position of Recreation Division Chief for the Central California Area Office.
