Reclamation's Hoover Dam tours suspended until September 18
The Hoover Dam visitor center and parking garage will be closed on Saturday, September 16, and Sunday, September 17, and the dam will be closed to tours on both of those days.

Bureau of Reclamation officials decided to suspend visitor operations at the dam this weekend because of the uncertainty of when Highway 93, which crosses the dam, will be re-opened. The highway was closed late this afternoon when equipment being used to construct the new bridge downstream of the dam fell onto the roadway.

The visitor center will re-open, and tours of the facility will resume, on Monday, September 18.

The visitor center opens at 9:00 a.m. Pacific time, and closes at 6:00 p.m. Pacific time. Tours of the dam's power plant begin about 9:20 a.m. and run approximately every 15 minutes thereafter until 5:15 p.m.

Water and power operations at the dam are not affected by the closing of the visitor facilities; those activities will continue as normal.
