Oglala Sioux Potentiometric Mapping (3000-655) |
About 60 field inventories completed during FY 2005. Work will continue in FY 2006 as Phase II. Data will be incorporated into the USGS Ground Water Site database. The map will be used to locate new wells, predict ground-water movement, and assess the aquifer vulnerability to contamination. |
Turtle Mountain Wellhead Protection (3000-667) |
First year of two-year project. Tribe cleaned, disinfected, and sealed 57 abandoned wells. Reclamation funding used to purchase materials and hire tribal members. |

Blackfeet Stream Restoration (3000-637) |
Funds were obligated in FY 2004. Project was delayed by Tribe, but now they have advertised for bids, and are in the process of evaluating the bids. Final report will be issued when the project is finished. Projected completion date is now 12/31/2006 . |
Ft. Peck Brine Phase I (3000-638) |
Project has been featured in the local newspaper during the data-gathering phase, when helicopters were used to fly low over the contaminated areas. Phase II will continue through FY 2006-2007.
Project has great significance to the city of Poplar , which is dependent on the threatened water supply until the Fort Peck Rural Water System is constructed. This project will help the Tribes plan for obtaining interim water supplies, if necessary.

Ft. Peck Irrigation Phase I (3000-639) |
Phase I has finished, awaiting reports. Phase II tentatively awarded for additional surveying on the Tribal Ranch irrigated lands if the Tribe can reduce their proposed budget by about 1/3.

N. Cheyenne Drought (3000-640) |
Funds obligated in FY 2004. Project by internal issues at the Northern Cheyenne Water Resources office. Tribe has now committed to contract for the production of a Drought Plan this winter. Completion date extended to 6/30/2006 . |
Chippewa Cree Fisheries (3000-668) |
Tribe has surveyed Beaver Creek to establish a centerline and are preparing a plan and profile of the creek. Working with Fish and Wildlife Service in Havre to develop specific plans for the identified areas. A “Know Your Watershed” forum is planned for February 10 on the Reservation, and this project is one of the topics. |
Montana Reservation Map (3000-692) |
Internal project to produce a map of MTAO reservations and their location/interrelationship with other Montana physical features and Reclamation projects. Project is complete, 10 hard copies produced and distributed, and a CD of the map produced. Positive feedback from Reclamation staff who have used it. |

Sac & Fox Wetlands (3000-641) |
Final draft report was sent to Tribe for review on July 21, 2005 , no comments received. NKAO will contact the Tribe to discuss finalizing the project. |
Potawatomi Aquifer (3000-642) |
TSC provided a draft report. The Nation and the NKAO provided comments on the report in October 2005. TSC is currently addressing the comments. NKAO will request additional NAA TA funds for TSC to incorporate these comments and finalize the report. |

Delaware Infrastructure (3000-673) |
Two final reports were delivered to the Tribe in August. These reports presented water delivery, fire flow storage, and stormwater and wastewater infrastructure alternatives for the Delaware Nation office complex, a proposed office expansion area, and a proposed business park.
No response from Nation to date, likely due to transition in planning staff that occurred a few weeks prior to delivery of the rports. |
