The Great Plains Region's Native American Affairs Program works directly with Tribes and partners to help address many sever water quantity and quality problems on Reservations within the region. Working directly with Tribes has prove to be an effective way to provide technical asistance to rural Indian communities in the Great Plains Region. Activities in fiscal year 2001 included:

- Native Waters Curriculum Guide--Montana State University, Bozeman, Montana
- Blackfeet Fish Hatchery--Blackfeet Reservation, Montana
- Well Closure Assistance--Montana, Dakotas, Nebraska, Kansas, and Oklahoma
- Sulphur Pipeline Report--Chickasaw Nation, Oklahoma
- Water Supply Needs--Kickapoo Traditional Tribe of Texas, Eagle Pass, Texas
- Mekusuky Water System Engineering Evaluation--Seminole Tribe of Oklahoma
