- Purpose: To issue revisions to the RAR.

- Background:
The purchase of eyeglasses, and related eye examinations, for employees who work at video display terminals is no longer authorized. No statutory authority exists for the purchase of VDT glasses, and personal prescription eyewear is not considered Personal Protective Equipment. Refer to the attachments for further information.
This memorandum is used to issue deletions to the RAR. Specifically, this ET is issued to delete the references to Video Display Terminal (VDT) Eyeglasses from the RAR. The RAR changes are described in paragraph 5 below.
- Explanation of changes: The prescription at WBR 1423.302-84(3), Video Display Terminal (VDT) eyeglasses, is deleted in its entirety.
- Action Required: Please distribute this ET to all acquisition personnel. A supplement to this ET will follow at a later date, which includes replacement pages to the RAR as a result of this change.
