Subject:  Electronic Transmittal (ET) No.. 05-10 – Expiration of Exemption from Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1993 for purchases under the micropurchase threshold (as defined in FAR 2.101).

1. Purpose: To transmit Department of the Interior, Office of Acquisition and Property Management, Integrated Charge Card Bulletin No. 2005-01, dated April 11, 2005, Sunset Date for Exemption from Section 508 for Micro-purchases: April 1, 2005.

2. Effective Date: Effective immediately.

3. Expiration Date: This ET remains in effect until the policy is formally incorporated into the Department of the Interior Acquisition Regulations.

4. Background: See attached bulletin.

5. Explanation of Changes: Effective April 1, 2005, the exemption from Section 508 for purchases of electronic and information technology under the micropurchase threshold
has expired. Cardholders with purchase line authority are now responsible for ensuring that they understand the Section 508 requirements and purchase products that comply
with those requirements. See the attached bulletin for specific cardholder and approving official responsibilities.

6. Action Required: Regional acquisition offices should distribute this memorandum to all acquisition personnel, to all integrated charge cardholders with purchase line authority, and to the cardholder’s approving officials.
